In the beginning there was Earth Mother and from her womb arose a magnificent woods.  Within these woods dwelt many wild and wonderful creatures- butterflies, birds, earthworms, frogs, deer, tree spirits, water spirits, wood nymphs and -- Woman.

All those who lived within this forest honoured and celebrated themselves, each other and the earth.  Each felt within them the interconnectedness of all. Each understood and knew their true selves.  Each was in constant awe and wonder at the beauty of the world.

For many lifetimes, Woman lived at peace and was content within the woods.  One day, however, while listening to the songs of the birds and the tales of the wind and the water, Woman longed to see what lie beyond; to smell and taste and feel the other places they told of.

And so, she set forth promising to return with her own tales and songs, listening to the ever-fading sounds of the forest.  The birds sang of her forthcoming adventures. The trees whispered gentle warnings.   The fluttering wings of the butterflies told of her strength and courage, and many voices wished for her a wondrous journey and a safe return.

As the years passed, Woman's journey took her to many new and exciting places.  Sometimes, but not often, back to the sacred and magnificent forest.  However, even now (if she is still), she can hear the calling of the woods and knows it to be a place she is always welcome.  A place she can return to for strength and comfort, awe and beauty, and to rediscover and reconnect with all that is essential.
